Julia Gillard Said: “I did say during the last election campaign, I promised that there would be no carbon tax. That’s true and I’ve walked away from that commitment and I’m not going to try and pretend anything else,” she said.
Ms Gillard said if she was leading a majority government she would have an emissions trading scheme with no carbon tax, but the hung Parliament forced her to “work with others”.
“I had a really stark choice. Do I act or not act, well I’ve chosen to act,” she said.
“I didn’t intend to mislead people.” ??????
This is incredible, she snuck in based on the no carbon tax promise. Had she not promised it the coalition would be there based on their No Carbon tax policy. Once making a number of promises which have been broken, she wins the election. She then decides she must change her promise, but she did not intentially mean to deceive any one.
My 11 year old daughter saw through this, she said “Daddy, if Julia Gillard said she didn’t want a Carbon Tax and promised she wouldn’t have one, isn’t it just a lie? She didn’t have to change her mind if she didn’t want to did she?
Of course at her age she knows little about politics, but she knows lots about lying, and her school explained how Ms Gillard being PM is a good thing for equality. I believe she has set the female cause back at least a decade if not more.
JULIA Gillard’s speech to the Energy Policy Institute last week sought to blame increasing electricity prices on greedy state governments — and hence shift blame away from the carbon tax. It was an odd argument for her to make. For one thing, the carbon tax is specifically designed to increase electricity prices, by making carbon-intensive activities (such as producing electricity from coal-fired generators) relatively more expensive.
I am back from leave and I’m raring to go.
(Speech): Power bills have become the new petrol prices.
For too long, some state governments have been increasing their revenue at the expense of the family electricity bill. That has to stop.
Which state Governments are you talking about Ms Gillard? And which party was in power as you have said for too long now, it would seem you are talking about ALP Governments. Not that this really matter for we know that it is M r Abbo(i)ts fault
MARK SIMKIN, ABC POLITICAL REPORTER: Some Labor MP’s are worried the tactic will backfire. One told the ABC, every time he mentions the carbon tax, his constituents want to kill him.
TONY ABBOTT (to press): Every time the power bill goes up the Prime Minister has got a smile on her face because that’s the carbon tax.
JULIA GILLARD (speech): One way or another, we’re going to get this done.
IAN MACFARLANE (to press): The reality is she’s got the power. She’s got the power now.
Ms Gillard, has cut back the budget of state Governments. The same State Governments trying to unravel the record debt left by the Labor Governments in the States and then blames them when her Carbon Tax increases the Electricity prices.
THE Prime Minister’s Canberra residence has a large power bill because it functions differently to a family home, Julia Gillard says.
Ms Gillard was on Thursday responding to a News Limited report the carbon tax component of The Lodge’s July bill accounted for about $601, or 11 per cent, of the $5600 total.
Ms Gillard said The Lodge was a residence but it also hosted a large number of public functions.
“It functions differently to any family home,” she told reporters in Hobart.
“I think people would understand from a common sense perspective, for example, there are security requirements that would mean the electricity has to be used 24/7, 365 days a year.”
So why is it THIS Government who claims to be so certain Global Warming will mean the destruction of Australia Democracy, why is it they have not installed Solar Panels to the Lodge, saving taxpayers money and proving to all it is more efficient? You see Ms Gillard people do understand and we also understand, YOU don’t pay the power bill. As the residence of the leader of this country we would have thought it would be there that Solar was tried and shown it was a effective alternative….or Not.
OK, silly question, all this Government truly believes in, is the ripping off of money from Australians and lining their pockets with unjustified pay rises.
